NEW FILM SCORE NOW COMPLETED
APRIL 2010. MAGIC IN THE FOREST is now complete and playing daily at the Cradle of Forestry. You can learn more about this project as it develops by visiting the Magic in the Forest Blog. We're just beginning to enter it in film festivals so I'm sure there will be more news to come.
MUSIC COMMISSIONED FOR 2008 OLYMPICS
AUGUST 2008. I was commisioned to write music for Courtney King-Dye, representing the US in the sport of dressage at the 2008 Olympics. She rode Harmony's Mythilus to my original work bookended by instrumental Cat Stevens (Sad Lisa) at the beginning and end. Marlene Whitaker of Custom Freestyle Inc., whom I worked in conjunction with had this to say, "The music counts 25% of the final freestyle score and major competitions have been won or lost based on that alone. While the music is scored on appropriateness of selection, cohesiveness, editing, and phrasing, its overall impact in support of the program is immense. This ride captures the imagination and tells an elegant powerful story. Only a handful of riders in the world use original music, so we are leading the parade".

NEW 5.1 POST PRODUCTION UPGRADE
JANUARY 2008. I am in the process of completing a significant upgrade to my studio facilities with complete 5.1 surround sound mixing and post production abilities in a Pro Tools environment. I'm using the legendary Mackie HR824s for monitors. I've also recently added a soundproof isolation booth good for ADR, foley, voiceover and more.
VIENNA SYMPHONIC LIBRARY
JANUARY 2005. I began using the Vienna Symphonic Library for music production. The significance of this is huge! With VSL (Vienna Symphonic Library) I am able to reproduce the sounds
of the orchestra with a genuineness, clarity and detail never before available to the
electronic musician!
For those of you who are new to this concept - VSL is not a library of finished musical pieces as recordings. Rather it's a vast library of the basic building blocks of music in the form of instrument timbres, notes, pitches, articulations etc etc. It provides the nearly limitless choice of nuance required to even come close to duplicating the sound of a live orchestra. It means that I can compose,
orchestrate, record and deliver finished music for film with a quality that in the past
could only be accomplished with the full resources of a live professional orchestra.
VSL is widely accepted as the largest and
most sophisticated orchestral sound
sample library available in the world today and I am proud to be a licensee.
PRO TOOLS PROJECT STUDIO AND BUILDING
NOVEMBER 2004. Yes, it's true. Due to a recent change of residence I was
able set up a separate building as a project studio and work place with
more space and lots of class. It's a great place to work and an inviting
atmosphere for producers and directors.
I'm recording with Pro Tools on a Mac platform. I also have a small farm of PCs to
run Gigastudio, Vienna Ensemble, the VSL library and other things. It's a great setup for composing to film. It
also works well as a recording studio for solo artists and small groups See pictures for a look at my studio setup.
