Movie Scoring and Other Work of Interest December 2007
"His music is unembellished, yet complex; sometimes ominous and at other moments ethereal. The Accolade judges are pleased to acknowledge the quality of Hagerling’s achievement by granting an Award of Excellence. While this is Hagerling’s first feature film score, it won’t be his last.” You can purchase A Dance for Bethany on DVD by going here. Watch clips here. September 2007 A Dance for Bethany, the feature film I scored earlier this year premiered in Asheville, North Carolina at 3 different theatres including the Carmike 10, one of a large national chain of theatres. It played there for 4 weeks at all show times. There was an official Hollywood style, red carpet premier on Thursday, Sept 27th at the Fine Arts Theatre in downtown Asheville. August 2007 I produced music for a 1 minute commercial for the Frankie Bones Restaurant. It is noteworthy because, though the restaurant is only 1 of a chain of 2 restaurants, the commercial looks more like part of a national campaign. It would look good on the Super Bowl. You can watch the commercial on my samples page. It was produced by Story Point Media. November 2006 I started scoring the new feature film entitled A Dance for Bethany. This is a very exciting development which I'm sure you'll be hearing more about in the near future. March 2006 In March I helped arrange and record music for the rider and horse, "Wild One", representing the US in the 2006 Dressage World Cup competition in Denmark. October 2005 In October I completed music for the Nic Newton project currently being developed by Story Point Media and Imaginari Studios. The project is calling for some pretty sophisticated John- Williams-esque orchestration. Here, VSL (see to the right) is proving to be every bit as wonderful as it claims to be. You can hear samples of this music by going to my samples page. August 2005 In August I completed my soundtrack for a documentary produced by the Ironwood Media Group and WriteMind Communications entitled Enka Village: A Living History. It is a delightful short documentary about the Enka area near Asheville, NC., and it's continuing history.

Now Using VSL! January 2005 The significance of this is huge! With VSL (Vienna Symphonic Library) I am able to reproduce the sounds of the orchestra with a genuineness, clarity and detail never before available to the electronic musician! It means that I can compose, orchestrate, record and deliver finished music for film with a quality that in the past could only be accomplished with the full resources of a live professional orchestra. VSL is widely accepted as the largest and most sophisticated orchestral sound sample library available in the world today and I am proud to be a licensee. You can learn more about my use of VSL by reading the article entitled VSL Licensee Brings World-Class Orchestral Sounds to Asheville in my Sept 2005 Newsletter ProTools Project Studio! November 2004 Yes, it's true. Due to a recent change of residence I was
able set up a separate building as a project studio and work place with
more space and lots of class. It's a great place to work and an inviting
atmosphere for producers and directors.
